Most people will not feel the symptoms initially. It is actually a silent disease. It is estimated that a person may already have type 2 diabetes for more than 5 years before they are diagnosed. Approximately, 25% of people in USA with diabetes mellitus may not yet been diagnosed. If type 2 diabetes is diagnosed late then people may already have developed diabetes related complication. Therefore, it is <a href=\"http:\/\/livingdiabetes.com\/risk-factors-for-type-2-diabetes\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">important to know the risk <\/a>and get <a href=\"http:\/\/livingdiabetes.com\/hba1c-use-if-diagnosing-type-2-diabetes\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">tested for type 2 diabetes<\/a>. [1]<\/p>\n<p>Most people are diagnosed with type 2 diabetes either through routine check up or incidently due to other unrelated illness. Some patients are diagnosed when their body is showing signs of diabetes related complication like developing heart attack.<\/p>\n<p>Symptoms may be very mild to start with. It is important to look out for following symptoms: [2]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Excessive tiredness<\/li>\n<li>Passing excess urine (going to toilet more often) especially at night<\/li>\n<li>Losing weight unintentionally<\/li>\n<li>Blurred vision<\/li>\n<li>Excessive thirst (polydispis)<\/li>\n<li>Dry mouth<\/li>\n<li>Developing genital thrush (yeast) infection leading to itching<\/li>\n<li>Wound taking a long time to heal<\/li>\n<li>Developing thick dark skin around back of neck, underarms or groin (acanthosis nigran)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is important to know type 2 diabetes symptoms to make early diagnosis.
